ISLAMABAD: PDMA Forecasts Rain and Snow in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from February 8 to 10
According to the spokesperson of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), there is a likelihood of rain and snowfall in various areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from February 8 to 10.
The spokesperson stated that snowfall and rain are expected in Murree, Galliyat, and surrounding areas on February 9 and 10, while Lahore may also experience rain with dense clouds during the same period.
Heavy clouds with rain and hail are forecast in southern districts of Punjab.
Rain is likely in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Jhang, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that local government, health department, Rescue 1122, police, and transport department have been placed on alert.
In line with the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, all necessary arrangements should be completed in advance, emergency control rooms should remain on 24-hour alert with staff present, and Rescue 1122 disaster response teams should also be kept on high alert.
The DG PDMA advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather.
Tourists in Murree should take precautionary measures and follow instructions.
He added that district administration and relevant departments are on alert in Murree due to expected snowfall; however, citizens should avoid high speed and sudden braking in bad weather, use fog lights while driving, and follow all issued safety guidelines.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts are expected to receive intermittent rain with thunder from Sunday night (February 9) until Tuesday, February 10, along with snowfall in mountainous areas.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during this period, upper districts including Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Chitral (Upper and Lower), Dir (Upper and Lower), Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan (Upper and Lower), and Kolai Palas may experience rain with thunder and snowfall in the mountains.
Intermittent rain is also likely in the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.
