Pakistan beat Australia in first T20I

Lahore: Pakistan secured a brilliant 22-run victory over Australia in the first T20I of the three-match series.

Batting first, Pakistan posted 168/8 in their 20 overs. Opener Saim Ayub provided a brisk start with 40 off 22 balls, while Salman Ali Agha contributed 39 and Babar Azam scored 24.

Australia’s star spinner Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs.

In reply, Australia made a strong attempt to chase 169 but kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Cameron Green top-scored with 36, captain Travis Head made 23, and tail-ender Xavier Bartlett remained not out on 34. Despite their efforts, Australia were restricted to 146/8 in 20 overs.

Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed each took two wickets for Pakistan.

With this win, Pakistan have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
