Mother-daughter drowning Incident turns into a mystery

Mother-daughter drowning Incident turns into a mystery

Lahore:  The reported incident of a mother and daughter falling into a manhole and drowning near Bhati Gate has become shrouded in mystery.

As soon as the report was received, specialized rescue teams, accompanied by divers, rushed to the scene.

However, upon arrival and initial assessment, it became apparent that the drowning of a mother and daughter in the manhole appeared technically impossible under the prevailing conditions.

Managing Director of WASA (Water and Sanitation Agency) Ghufraan Ahmed stated: “There is only about one foot of water flowing in the manhole.

It seems impossible for a mother and daughter to drown in such a low volume of water flow. In such shallow and slow-moving water, neither drowning nor being swept away is possible.”

He added that rescue workers are actively working at the site and that further investigation will reveal what actually happened.

On the other hand, the spokesperson for the Punjab government has dismissed the news as fake and described the reported incident as baseless.

The spokesperson said that an investigation is already underway into who initially reported the incident.

Rescue teams remain present at the location, and a large-scale operation is continuing.

The conflicting statements from WASA and the provincial government have deepened the mystery surrounding the reported tragedy, with authorities now probing both the facts of the case and the source of the initial information.

Further updates are awaited as the operation and inquiry proceed.
