PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather forecast predicting rain across most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with snowfall in mountainous regions.
According to the PDMA, upper districts of the province are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms and snowfall from January 20 to January 23.
Snowfall in areas such as Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, and the Galiyat may lead to road closures and slippery conditions.
Meanwhile, rain is also expected in the plain districts including Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Bannu.
The authority further stated that following the rainfall, fog is expected in low-lying areas along with a noticeable drop in temperatures.
In hilly regions, there is a risk of landslides and avalanches.
PDMA has issued alerts to district administrations and relevant departments to take precautionary measures.
Authorities have been instructed to keep drainage systems functional and ensure the safety of billboards.
Tourists have been advised to carry sufficient water, food, medicines, and warm clothing during snowfall.
