QUETTA: Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar has taken strict notice of a serious incident involving the alleged switching of a newborn baby at a private health center in Quetta, ordering an immediate and comprehensive investigation.
The minister has directed the Healthcare Commission to conduct a full-fledged inquiry into the matter from every aspect. He has demanded a preliminary report within 24 hours to ascertain the facts and determine responsibility for the alarming incident.
Minister Kakar emphasized that the investigation process would be completed transparently and on merit, ensuring no lapse is overlooked. He stated that the protection of patients’ rights, especially in sensitive cases involving infants, is of utmost priority for the provincial health department.
In a reassuring move, the provincial health minister is also maintaining direct contact with the aggrieved parents of the child, keeping them informed of the investigative steps being taken. This action underscores the government’s commitment to addressing medical negligence and ensuring stringent accountability within healthcare facilities.
The swift response aims to restore public confidence in the health system and deliver justice in the distressing case.
Meanwhile in a brazen theft, two newly hired domestic workers allegedly stole gold and diamond jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from a flat on the upscale Khalid Bin Waleed Road in Firozabad before fleeing, police reported on Monday.
According to SHO Firozabad Adeel Afzal, a lady doctor residing in the residential building hired one domestic worker on January 5. The next day, January 6, the worker arrived for duty accompanied by another woman. While the doctor was out, her mother was present at home. The two workers, after briefly showing their tasks, allegedly ransacked the premises and made off with a significant haul of valuables.
