QUETTA: In Harnai district, unidentified armed men opened fire on motorcyclists traveling from Sanjawi to Harnai on the Tor Kham-Sur Pul road section.
The attack killed one rider, Samatullah son of Haji Dinar from Qilla Saifullah, instantly, while his relative Gul Muhammad son of Haji Dinar was injured.
Both victims were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Harnai.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident but no group has claimed responsibility yet.
Meanwhile, in the Wohir area of Wadh tehsil, police recovered the bullet-riddled body of a young man near a local madrasa in a deserted spot with visible blood marks. The deceased was identified as Shakeel Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed Malazai.
Authorities arrived promptly, secured the body, and transferred it to a hospital for legal procedures and autopsy.
The motives behind the killing remain unclear as police continue their probe.
These incidents contribute to the persistent insecurity in Balochistan, where official reports indicate at least 432 violent events in 2025 alone, resulting in hundreds of civilian and security force fatalities amid ongoing insurgency and targeted attacks.
It is worth mentioning that several murder cases have taken place in some deserted areas of Balochistan in the past many years.
Most of such crime incidents take place on the bases of personal enmity or tribal clashes.
A series of crime incidents is also recorded in the name of honour.
Often some tortured or bullet-riddled bodies of people are found in desolate places of Balochistan.
Such brutality and lawlessness raise questions on the situation of law-and-order and the role of the police and the other concerning departments.
One of the most unfortunate aspects of the murder incidents occurring in Balochistan is, that they are carried out by the tribals and the Jirgas across the province themselves.
Such incidents raise deprivation and uncertainty among the people if the justice is not served through the policing and the judiciary system.
A harsh and credible system of law-and-order has become mandatory in order to obstruct the brutal killing and make the people feel afraid of the law system.
A justice delayed should go down as justice denied.
