DALBANDIN: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prince Fahd bin Sultan, the Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk region, arrived in Balochistan on Saturday, signaling a potential new chapter in cross-border cooperation. The high-profile visit is seen as a key step towards enhancing socio-economic and political ties between Pakistan’s largest province and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The esteemed guest was warmly received at Dalbandin Airport by Balochistan’s Provincial Finance Minister, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, who represented Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti. The welcoming party also included Balochistan Assembly Member Zayed Ali Reki, local elders, and senior district administration officials, underscoring the importance of the occasion.
In his welcome remarks, Minister Nosherwani expressed deep honor at the prince’s arrival, highlighting the existing cordial and respectful relationship between Balochistan and the Tabuk region. “The friendly and pleasant relations between Balochistan and Tabuk are viewed with respect and are founded on mutual respect, trust, and brotherhood,” he stated.
Officials and observers anticipate that this visit will serve as a crucial catalyst for deepening bilateral relations. The engagement is expected to pave the way for discussions on investment, development projects, and enhanced cultural exchanges. Balochistan, with its strategic location and resource potential, stands to benefit from strengthened partnerships in sectors like mining, energy, and port infrastructure, linking to Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives.
The visit of Prince Fahd bin Sultan is widely regarded as more than a ceremonial gesture; it is a forward-looking move aimed at translating historical fraternity into concrete, mutually beneficial cooperation for the future.
Meanwhile the Balochistan Assembly session commenced 44 minutes late on Friday, chaired by Speaker Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, and quickly delved into critical issues of law, order, and cybercrime.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, responding to opposition queries, disclosed a disturbing new modus operandi used in bank robberies in Panjgur. He stated that armed individuals conceal weapons under chadors (shawls), enter banks posing as customers, execute heists within 30 minutes, and escape. The CM assured the house that action against these robbers would be taken soon.
