Faiz Hameed Coordinated with PTI Leadership Before & After May 9 Unrest: Col (R) Inaam-ur-Raheem

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army retired officer Col (R) Inaam-ur-Raheem has alleged that former intelligence chief Lt Gen (R) Faiz Hameed maintained direct coordination with senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, , and former chief justice Saqib Nisar during the events surrounding May 9 unrest.

Speaking to a private channel about what he described as documented evidence, Inaam-ur-Raheem said individuals evading arrest after the violence took refuge at Faiz Hameed’s farmhouse.

He said Hameed frequently changed SIM cards and relayed his new number through a single PTI leader, including Asad Qaiser. He said authorities traced each SIM within minutes due to surveillance of PTI leadership.

Inaam-ur-Raheem alleged that records exist showing Hameed’s communication and instructions to key PTI figures linked to the May 9 events.

He cited Section 31 of the Pakistan Army Act, which allows civilians to face trial if they attempt to incite dissent within the armed forces.

He further alleged that while former prime minister Imran Khan was jailed, Hameed tried to reach him through prison officials, adding that such attempts were documented.

Inaam-ur-Raheem described the military trial of a former intelligence chief as unprecedented and said Army Chief and Chief of Defence Staff Gen Asim Munir approved the process as part of internal accountability.

He also alleged that Hameed had close ties with former chief justice Saqib Nisar.

Citing journalist Fakhar Durrani, he said two luxury vehicles seized from the Top City owner were allegedly given to Justice (R) Nisar, one for personal use and one for his son. He said Nisar has not publicly denied the claim.
