Four injured in accident near Jeep Rally in Jhal Magsi

JHAL MAGSI: A logistical vehicle supporting a major desert rally crashed on Thursday, leaving four individuals injured. The accident occurred near Nowshera, where a team was en route to deliver fuel to a participant of the ongoing Desert Challenge Jeep Rally.

According to local sources, the vehicle was transporting supplies for rally driver and athlete Zeb Imrani when it met with an accident. The injured have been identified as Ashfaq Ahmed, Waril Khan, Abdul Ghaffar, and Sherdil. All four were promptly shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Gandawah, where they are currently receiving necessary medical treatment. Their conditions are reported to be stable.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local administration officials and rescue teams swiftly reached the accident site. The rescue operation focused on extracting the injured and providing initial first aid before their urgent transportation to the hospital.

The Desert Challenge Jeep Rally is a prominent off-road motorsport event held in the region. Incidents involving support and logistical teams, while less common than those involving the competing vehicles themselves, highlight the extensive operations and risks involved in managing such large-scale sporting events in challenging terrain.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the specific cause of the accident. An investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash is expected to be conducted. The rally organizers have also not commented on whether the incident will affect the schedule of the ongoing competition.

In this regard, several reports indicate that a special event was organized in Quetta to showcase the abilities of Sultan Golden, who hails from district Pishin in Balochistan.

Sultan Golden successfully broke the previous world record set in 2022 for the fastest reverse car drive.

He completed a distance of one mile while driving in reverse in just 57 seconds, significantly improving upon the earlier record of 1 minute and 15 seconds, which had been held by an American stuntman.
