Section 144 imposed in Quetta for two weeks

QUETTA:  The Balochistan Home Department has imposed Section 144 in Quetta and issued a formal notification enforcing strict public-order restrictions.

The notification bans the display and use of weapons across the district. It also prohibits pillion riding on motorcycles, except for women and children.

Authorities have barred the use of tinted glasses on vehicles and restricted the movement of unregistered motorcycles.

Public gatherings of more than five people — including rallies, processions, and sit-ins — are banned.

The order also prohibits the use of masks or mufflers at public places.

Police, Levies, and Frontier Corps have been given powers to take strict action against violators. Offences will be dealt with under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
