QUETTA: A militant linked to Fitna al-Hindustan was killed when security forces repulsed an attack on their convoy on the Bolan highway near Sirajabad.
Security officials said the attackers opened fire on the convoy, prompting a swift retaliatory response. The exchange of fire left one terrorist dead and three others injured.
Security forces have secured the area and are collecting further details.
Earlier today, more than 100 individuals, including a commander of a banned outfit, surrendered in Sui, Balochistan.
Commander Wadera Noor Ali Chakarani and his associates handed over their weapons to Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti. The armed men laid down their weapons, raised Pakistan’s flag and pledged allegiance to the state.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti congratulated the commander and all those who surrendered for joining the national mainstream. He said the decision by Noor Ali Chakarani and over 100 others in Sui, Dera Bugti, was commendable. He said it sent a clear message that the state had not closed the door to dialogue. He added that by raising Pakistan’s flag, the group had begun a new journey toward peace.
He congratulated them for joining the national mainstream.
The Chief Minister added that the move sends a clear message to all misguided individuals that the state has not closed the door to dialogue. “However, anyone who mistakes this leniency for weakness will be pursued until their last breath,” he said.
