ISLAMABAD: The President of Pakistan has convened a joint session of Parliament today, nine months after the last one, with several key bills expected to be approved.
The session will begin at 11am. A 15-point agenda has been issued. Lawmakers will vote on the National Commission for Minority Rights Bill 2025 and the National Assembly Secretariat Employees Amendment Bill 2025.
Parliament will also take up the Biological and Toxic Weapons Convention Implementation Bill 2024, and the Pakistan Institute of Management, Sciences and Technology Bill 2023.
According to the agenda, the bill to establish the National University for Security Sciences Islamabad 2023 will be approved. The Akhuwat Institute Kasur Bill 2023 and the Ghurki Institute of Science and Technology Bill 2025 are also set for passage.
Sources say the Journalists and Media Workers Protection Bill may also be presented. Parliament may additionally take up the Minority Rights Commission Bill and the Pakistan Animal Council Bill.

This will be the first joint sitting in nine months. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman are expected to address the session. Officials consider the meeting significant given the current political climate.
