Organized Afghan Terror Network Exposed in Pakistan

Organized Afghan terror network exposed in Pakistan

An organized network  involved in spreading terrorism in Pakistan has been uncovered following the arrest of an Afghan national in Talagang.

The suspect’s confession has revealed key details about recruitment, planning, and cross-border militant coordination.

The arrested man, identified as Qasim alias Hassan, originally belongs to the Gardez region of Afghanistan.

He stated that his family migrated to Lakki Marwat about ten years ago, where he grew up and earned a livelihood.

Despite receiving support from local communities, he later became involved with militant elements.

According to his statement, in early 2025 he met a Taliban commander named Armani in the Sarhad area, where he was persuaded to join militant activities.

He said he remained with the group for several weeks and was later directed to carry out reconnaissance for a suicide attack on a military fort in the Tajoari area along with an associate, but the plan failed due to lack of opportunity.

He further admitted that he later returned to the organization and was tasked with recruiting new members.

He claimed to have handed over five individuals to the group in exchange for money.

In September, he was sent to Punjab to search for more recruits, where he was eventually arrested by police.

Security officials say the suspect’s confession provides clear evidence that Afghan territory has been used for planning and directing terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

Authorities also reiterated that Pakistan has previously presented multiple credible proofs at international forums regarding the use of Afghan soil for terrorism.
