Sindh CM rejects Indian Defence Minister’s remarks, confirms Province’s commitment to Pakistan

KARACHI: The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, strongly condemned a recent statement by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, calling it “provocative and historically uninformed.”

In this regard, Shah said the comments indicated a misunderstanding of both history and regional realities.

“Sindh separated from the Bombay Presidency as early as 1936,” he said, adding that the province has always maintained a distinct political identity and a proud sense of autonomy.

The chief minister noted that the people of Sindh have consistently prioritised their self-respect, dignity and independent political standing. “Sindh was part of Pakistan yesterday, is part of Pakistan today, and will remain part of Pakistan forever,” he stated.

“This is not a new decision, it is a commitment written in our blood.”

Furthermore, Shah advised the Indian defence minister to focus on domestic challenges instead of issuing comments about Pakistan.

He referred to internal disputes, ongoing farmers’ protests and political tensions within several Indian states as issues that require greater attention in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the chief minister stressed that responsible dialogue and respect for sovereignty are essential for regional stability. He urged Indian officials to avoid statements that could increase tensions between the two countries.

“It would be better for the Indian leadership to concentrate on resolving its internal matters rather than indulging in unfounded claims about Sindh,” he added.

Shah confirmed that the people of Sindh have stood firm with Pakistan since its creation and continue to uphold this bond with pride.

He said attempts to distort historical facts or question provincial loyalty serve no constructive purpose.
