Vehicle verification process causes distress for traders

PANJGUR: The Traders Union, Save Border Movement, Civil Society, all Parties and other groups talked in a joint press conference and spoke on the issues of border-closure and unemployment.

The speakers demanded to reopen the border as per the routine. While talking in the press conference, the leaders say that the recent decision taken by the government officials have led the people to hardships and chaos.

In the past, 250 to 300 vehicles would pass through the border, however, this number is now limited to 60 only.

It clearly means that it would take a vehicle 250 days to get another turn.

They said that the district administration has taken this decision without the consensus of the traders.

They added that this move is worth causing trouble for people despite the fact the verification has been carried out twice before.

A rally was driven from Children Park to the DC office after the press conference.

The protestant handed over a Charter of Demands and warned that the protest-movement will be expanded if the demands are not fulfilled.

It is worth mentioning that the Pak-Iran Border was closed amid the security and the law-and-order concerns.

The border-closure caused immense distress to thousands of people associated to the border-trade.

The move led to unemployment, poverty and a disastrous decline to the economy of the region.

Although some limited measures have been taken keeping in view the trade and employment of the entire region, however, the limited domain carried out for the restoration of the economic activities may not help the people cause and the situation may grow worse in the coming times.

The government needs to take some necessary measure in order to ensure the financial stability of millions of the people who are concerned with the cross-border trade.
