RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has set a target of 300 runs in the opening ODI of the three matches- series against Sri Lanka.
After having won the toss, the Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka chose to field first.
Pakistan was off to a poor start as they lost their opener Saim Ayub on the total of 14 runs.
Saim added just 6 runs to the total. Fakhar Zaman build up a partnership of 52 runs for the second wicket but he too was out after making a struggling 32 runs knock on 55 balls.
Mohammad Rizwan too got dismissed for just 5 runs to his name.
Babar Azam was the next man to dismissed after scoring 29 runs off 51 balls.
Pakistan were struggling at one stage when they had lost 4 wickets with just 95 runs on the board.
But then Salman Ali Agha and Hussian Talat took the charge at the crease and built up a 137 runs partnership.
Hussain got out after a well-made 63 ball-62 runs. Salman Ali Agha went on to make his second in the ODI.
He accelerated the score with Mohammad Nawaz and the pair another 66 runs to the total with both remaining unbeaten.
Salman scored 105 runs off just 87 balls and Nawaz too made quick fired 36 runs off just 23 balls.
Pakistan finished at 299/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
Hassaranga took three wickets.
The second fixture of the three-match series will be played on Thursday and both the team will play the third match on Saturday, 15th November 2025.
The ODI series will be followed with a tri-nation T20 series between Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe joined the series when Afghanistan intended to pull out of the series after the strain on the border between the two countries.
