QUETTA: The Balochistan government has enacted a series of stringent security measures under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, imposing comprehensive restrictions across the province until November 30 in response to the deteriorating law and order situation. According to an official notification released by the Provincial Home Department, the new regulations include a complete ban on pillion riding on motorcycles, though women and children have been exempted from this particular restriction.
The security crackdown extends beyond pillion riding to address multiple potential security threats. The government has prohibited the transportation of unregistered motorcycles and vehicles with tinted glasses, aiming to enhance visibility and identification capabilities for law enforcement agencies. In a significant move, the notification also explicitly bans the wearing of veils or any form of face coverings in public places, a measure intended to prevent criminals from maintaining anonymity while committing offenses.
These new restrictions build upon existing security protocols that remain in force under Section 144. The province continues to enforce bans on the public display of weapons, gatherings of five or more people, and all forms of sit-ins and processions. Additionally, the transportation of explosives has been completely prohibited as part of the enhanced security framework.
The collective implementation of these measures represents the provincial government’s comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and criminal activities. Security officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the new regulations, with violations subject to legal action under relevant sections of the law. The restrictions will remain effective through the end of November, reflecting the administration’s determination to restore stability during this critical period.
