QUETTA: Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, a central leader of the National Party and deputy parliamentary leader in the Balochistan Assembly, has issued a powerful and emotional condemnation of the targeted killings in Panjgur, questioning the state’s authority and demanding justice for the victims, including his own younger brother.
The strongly-worded statement came in response to the recent murder of two individuals, Zafar and Naeem, in the Panjgur Shapatan area. Baloch accused unidentified motorcycle riders of operating with impunity, stating they have been “issued a license to massacre.” He lamented that these assailants target people at will with no one to hold them accountable, asking, “How long will the people of Balochistan, especially Panjgur, continue to tolerate this atrocity?”
The political leader anchored his outrage in a profound personal tragedy, revealing that his own “innocent younger brother,” Walid Saleh Baloch, was martyred just twenty days ago. He expressed deep concern over the “negligence” of the government, district administration, and security agencies, pointing out that the killers remain unidentified and free.
In a heartfelt plea, Baloch directly challenged his brother’s assassins, demanding, “The beasts who martyred my brother should come and tell us what was their fault? Who did they harm?” He asserted his brother’s indifference to politics, making the killing even more inexplicable.
Baloch posed sharp questions to the authorities, asking why the culprits have not been apprehended and if they are “more powerful than the state.” He vowed that his family would not let the martyrdom be forgotten, declaring, “We want our killers alive. We will not remain silent. This is our promise with the blood of our martyred brother.” The statement signals a significant escalation in political pressure on the government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
Meanwhile in a crucial political development, a high-level federal delegation, including Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah and other federal ministers, arrived in Turbat on Monday. The delegation, representing Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, held a significant meeting with National Party (NP) chief Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, a key member of the provincial assembly.
