MASTUNG: Police have dismantled a six-member criminal gang accused of extorting money from residents in the Shirnab road area.
The operation was conducted by SHO Nazir Ahmed Lango under the directives of SP Mastung Allah Bakhsh Baloch, following a tip-off about suspects demanding money from vehicles.
During the raid, authorities recovered four motorcycles, one TT pistol, and Rs. 13,400 in cash believed to be collected through illegal extortion.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Habibullah, Iftikhar, Ghulam Rasool, Munir Ahmed, Safar Khan, and Muhammad Riaz. A case has been registered against them, and police are continuing investigations into their activities.
In a related by separate development Custom officials have arrested a fake intelligence agency official caught red-handed during a successful operation at Chaman Customs Check Post “Yaro”.
According to details, on the timely tip-off of the drivers, the customs authorities stopped a suspicious Vitz vehicle, whose driver, Rafiullah son of Muhammad Zarif, had posed as a customs and intelligence agency official.
Initial investigation revealed that the accused had been extorting huge amounts of money by threatening vehicle drivers at gunpoint at various hotels and bases for a long time. The officials present at the spot took immediate action and arrested the accused along with the weapons and the vehicle.
