Pakistan will not tolerate militancy: Field Marshal

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, visited Peshawar where he addressed a Jirga of tribal elders.

According to the ISPR, During the gathering, discussions focused on peace, stability, and measures against terrorism.

ISPR has said that at the headquarters of XI Corps, the Army Chief was briefed on the overall security situation.

He emphasized that Pakistan seeks peaceful relations with all its neighbors but will not tolerate terrorism originating from Afghan soil.

Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that Pakistan has made multiple efforts to improve ties with Afghanistan; however, the Afghan Taliban government has provided support and facilitation to India-backed militant groups.

He further vowed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be completely cleared of terrorists and their facilitators.

The tribal elders reaffirmed their full support for the security forces in combating terrorism and countering the Afghan Taliban’s influence.

The Indian-backed militant group TTP launched massive attacks in KP and Balochistan in the past many decades. Hundreds of security personnel have been killed in those militant attacks so far.

Pakistan responded with decisive attack on the militant hideouts deep inside the Afghanistan’s territory. The Afghan security forces launch military attack on Pakistani areas in the start of October.

That hostility was also responded in a befitting way by the Pakistani armed forces later on.

It is worth mentioning that the Indian-sponsored militants of Fitna al Khawarij have launched several militant-attacks in KP and Balochistan in the past many years.

All such terror groups are funded, trained and backed by India and have their havens and hideouts in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has stressed on Afghanistan to ensure that the militant groups do not use the Afghan soil to launch attacks on the Pakistani territory.

However, no serious measures have been taken by the Afghan government against the Indian-sponsored militants so far.
