KABUL: Ahmad Massoud, the son of Afghanistan’s late national hero and resistance leader Ahmad Shah Massoud, has publicly expressed support for Pakistan’s stance on the growing threat of terrorism posed by the Taliban regime.
Massoud, who currently leads the National Resistance Front (NRF) against the Taliban, said that the regime’s actions are fueling instability and spreading terrorism across the region.
He described Pakistan’s position on the issue as “absolutely correct,” urging regional and international actors to take concerted steps to curb extremist violence.
“The Taliban regime is spreading terrorism everywhere, and Pakistan’s position on this issue is absolutely correct. It must be stopped,” Massoud said.
Furthermore, Massoud’s comments indicate a rare moment of alignment between Afghan resistance leaders and Pakistan, which has long been accused by Kabul’s former governments of backing the Taliban.
On the other hand, the skirmishes is still going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan at the Pak-Afghan border during the Istanbul talks are going on between the two countries .
In addition, Pakistan has called on the Taliban-led government in Kabul to prevent militant groups, particularly the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), from using Afghan territory to launch attacks.
The Afghan Taliban, however, has denied harboring such groups, calling the allegations “unfounded.”
Moreover, Ahmad Massoud, often regarded as a symbol of resistance against the Taliban, has continued his father’s legacy by advocating for a free and inclusive Afghanistan.
The Taliban government continues to face international isolation and internal dissent, Massoud’s statements mention the growing urgency of regional coordination to address the persistent threat of terrorism and instability in Afghanistan and beyond.
