BANNU: Security forces successfully eliminated two Khawarij terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to security sources, the operation, carried out in the Mughal Kot area of the district, effectively targeted the network of Fitna al-Khawarij’s Tariq Kachhi group, which had been actively involved in terrorist activities across the region.
During the operation, the group’s ringleader Tariq Kachhi and his close associate Hakeemullah alias Tiger were killed. Heavy weapons were also recovered from the slain militants.
Security officials revealed that the Tariq Kachhi network had been operational for the past two years, carrying out terrorist attacks and facilitating cross-border infiltration from Afghanistan into Pakistan. The group was also involved in extortion activities to finance the Fitna al-Khawarij Taliban.
The operation marks a significant blow to the terrorist infrastructure attempting to regroup in the area, reaffirming the state’s resolve to eliminate all remnants of militancy from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Yesterday, the security forces had killed 18 terrorists of Fitna al Khawarij militants multiple operations in Lakki Marwat and North Waziristan.
At least eight militants of Fitna al Khawarij militants were killed in Sultan Khel area of Lakki Marwat.
At least six terrorists associated with Fitna al Khawarij were killed in an intelligence based operation by the security forces in Datta Khel, while four, including a suicide bomber, were killed during an attack on a military camp in Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan.
