Suspension of supply causes water crisis in Mastung

Mastung: The residents of Killi Konghar in Mastung have been suffering from a severe water shortage for the past three months after the suspension of  supply.

The inefficiency of the Public Health Engineering Department Mastung has raised serious concerns among citizens, leaving the area’s population deprived of one of life’s most basic necessities.

According to locals, the unavailability of water has made daily life unbearable, and the area now resembles a scene of extreme hardship.

Despite repeatedly filing complaints with the concerned authorities, no concrete action has been taken so far to restore the water supply.

Residents said that due to the suspension of the water system, they are forced to purchase water tanks at high prices, putting an additional financial burden on low-income families.

Public circles have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Mastung to take immediate notice of the situation and hold negligent officials of the Public Health Engineering Department accountable.

They demanded that the three-month-long water supply suspension be resolved urgently so that residents can regain access to this essential facility.

Balochistan has been facing a worsening water crisis for years due to declining groundwater levels, poor management, and prolonged droughts. Many districts, including Mastung,

Quetta, and Kalat, depend on outdated supply systems and irregular maintenance, leaving communities to rely on expensive private water sources.

Experts warn that without urgent reforms and sustainable water management, the province may face an even more critical shortage in the near future.

It is worth mentioning that being a dry and deserted provice, Balochistan is hit with intense water crisis.

Even in the current era of development and technology, The people have to fetch water from streams located at miles distance.
