Inquiry ordered over alleged money taken for bodies

QUETTA: Balochistan Health Minister Bakhth Muhammad Kakar has taken serious notice of a circulating video alleging that money was being demanded in exchange for the release of martyrs’ bodies at Quetta’s Civil Hospital.

According to Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Hadi Kakar, an inquiry committee has been formed under the supervision of the Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) to investigate the allegations.

The committee has been directed to conduct a transparent inquiry and submit its findings within 24 hours for strict action against those found responsible.

The hospital administration has appealed to anyone with credible information about the incident to immediately contact the MS Civil Hospital Quetta.

Officials stated that efforts have been underway for the past two days to reach the affected family, but no responsible individual has come forward so far.

Dr. Hadi Kakar emphasized that anyone involved in this heinous act — whether hospital staff, members of a volunteer organization, or police personnel — will face severe disciplinary action.

He reiterated that the hospital’s stance is firm: any person found guilty or proven to have participated in this shameful act will be dealt with strictly according to the law.

Reports suggest that bribery has become a growing issue across several government departments in Balochistan, affecting the transparency and efficiency of public services.

Citizens often face demands for money in return for basic facilities or official work, which has raised serious concerns about governance and accountability.

The provincial government has been urged to take immediate steps to eliminate corruption, ensure fair practices, and hold those involved in bribery accountable to restore public trust.

The government and the law enforcement agencies need to ensure that the people are not forced to pay money for their free constitutional rights.
