ISLAMABAD: The Chinese government has handed over the first batch of a significant disaster relief package to Pakistan to aid flood-affected communities, reinforcing the deep ties between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong formally presented the supplies at a ceremony at Nur Khan Air Base on Sunday, which was also attended by Federal Minister Ameer Muqam and NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik.
Ambassador Jiang highlighted the historical reciprocity of their alliance, recalling how Pakistan sent its entire strategic reserve of tents to China after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. “We will never forget this,” he stated.
Following recent devastating floods in Pakistan, China is providing comprehensive support. The initial delivery, transported by two Y-20 aircraft, included 300 tents and 9,000 blankets. This is part of a larger aid package totaling RMB 100 million in material assistance, with more supplies to be sent by air and sea.
