Balochisran assembly session to resume on Monday

QUETTA: After a two-day recess, the Balochistan Assembly will reconvene today (Monday) at 3 p.m., with Speaker of the Assembly presiding over the session.

Lawmakers are scheduled to raise questions related to the Planning and Development Department and the Balochistan Coastal Development Authority (BCDA), with relevant officials expected to provide responses.

Provincial Assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman will present a call-attention notice regarding the Sharam Hatchery Farm, drawing attention to issues of provincial concern.

Parliamentary Secretaries Mir Asghar Rind and Barkat Ali Rind are set to move a resolution proposing the creation of a new district comprising Subdivision Temp and Tehsil Mand, a significant administrative development for the region.

In addition, the house will take up the draft legislation for Prince Fahad Hospital Dalbandin, officially titled the Prince Fahad Hospital Dalbandin Bill 2025 (Bill No. 34 of 2025), which will be introduced for discussion and potential approval during the session.

Today’s proceedings are expected to address key legislative and administrative matters affecting Balochistan’s governance and development agenda.

It is worth mentioning that the Balochistan Assembly has been conducting some crucial sessions in the past few months.

The key concerns have been law and order, internal security, border-trade, fisheries, transport matters, government employees, water supply in the remote areas, flooding, roads, development infrastructure, CPEC and many other area.

The Balochistan Assembly in 2025 approved a series of major laws aimed at governance, economic growth, and social protection.

Key measures included the Tax on Land and Agricultural Income Amendment, introducing new slabs to broaden the provincial tax base, and the Civil Servants Amendment to modernize service rules.

Lawmakers also enacted the Mines and Minerals Act to regulate resource extraction and the Agricultural Solarization Act to cut farm energy costs.

Security was strengthened through the Anti-Terrorism (Balochistan Amendment) Act, while the Women’s Safety at Workplace Bill marked a milestone in gender protection. These reforms collectively target revenue generation, investment, and stronger institutions.
