KHUZDAR: Seven guards sustained injuries late Friday night when unknown assailants hurled a grenade at the residence of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Agha Shazeb Durrani in Khuzdar’s Do Talwar area.
SSP Khuzdar Shehzada Umar Abbas Babar said the attackers threw the grenade at the house’s outer wall, triggering an explosion that shook nearby buildings. He called it a cowardly act aimed at disturbing peace in the area and noted that, fortunately, the guards suffered only minor wounds.
Police reported that the attackers escaped on a motorcycle after the blast. Security forces launched a search operation and deployed additional personnel across the area. The SSP said investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements, vowing to arrest the culprits and expose the elements backing them.
Rescue teams shifted the injured guards to Khuzdar Teaching Hospital. Hospital officials confirmed the guards’ condition as stable and said they would discharge them soon.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and labeled it an act of terrorism. In a statement on social media platform X, he said such incidents cannot weaken the resolve of the people and political leadership. He prayed for the guards’ recovery and directed law enforcement agencies to complete investigations swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
