Two killed, two injured in collision of oil trucks in Panjgur

GWADAR: In Panjgur’s Goran area, a collision between two oil-laden Zambad trucks left two people dead and two others injured.

According to details, the crash caused both vehicles to catch fire, reducing them to ashes.

The deceased and the injured were shifted to the Teaching Hospital for further procedures and medical treatment.

Over the last ten years, Balochistan has witnessed numerous oil-tanker accidents, largely because of the province’s rugged terrain, under-maintained highways, and the heavy movement of fuel supplies between Karachi, Gwadar, and the Iran border.

Tankers often travel long distances on narrow or broken roads, and many operate with worn tires or inadequate safety checks.

These factors, combined with speeding and driver fatigue, have led to frequent rollovers, head-on collisions, and fires.

Several incidents—particularly along the Makran Coastal Highway, the RCD Highway (Quetta–Karachi route), and near border districts like Panjgur and Turbat—have resulted in significant loss of life, destruction of property, and large oil spills that damage the environment.

Provincial authorities have periodically announced safety campaigns, stricter vehicle inspections, and designated rest stops for drivers, but enforcement remains inconsistent.

Continued investment in road infrastructure, regular maintenance of tanker fleets, and stricter licensing standards are widely seen as essential to reducing these accidents in the future.
