KP lists 1,351 most wanted terrorists with Rs 4.14b bounty

PESHAWAR: Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have identified 1,351 dangerous and most wanted terrorists, placing a collective bounty of Rs 4.14 billion ($15 million) on their heads, officials said Monday.

The provincial Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) confirmed it has sent the updated list of wanted militants to the Interior Department. A CTD spokesperson said the head money for each terrorist has been fixed, with the combined value reaching Rs 4.14 billion.

According to the list, Peshawar tops the tally with 185 wanted terrorists, followed by 129 in North Waziristan, 117 in Bannu, 111 in Dera Ismail Khan, and 107 in Swat. Other districts include Karak with 72, Kohat with 65, Mardan with 51, and Bajaur with 42.

The CTD clarified that no women are among the individuals listed.

In February, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced bounties for 14 militants involved in attacks in Kurram district. The notification placed the highest reward, Rs 30 million, on the head of militant Kazim.

Earlier today, the ISPR said in a statement that security forces killed 31 Indian-backed Fitna-al-Khawarij militants in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The total number of terrorists associated with Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij, killed during the last five days of intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has risen to 66.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the Pakistan Army, security forces launched the first operation in Lakki Marwat district on September 13. Troops engaged in a fierce gun battle and killed 14 militants while targeting their hideouts.

In a second operation in Bannu district on September 14, security forces killed another 17 foreign-backed militants after intense fighting, ISPR said. A clearance operation is still underway to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.
