Quetta: Following days of heavy rainfall, the water level at Hub Dam has surged to 338 feet, leaving only one foot of capacity remaining, according to a statement issued by the Irrigation Department.
The department warned that the spillway could begin releasing water at any time as inflow continues.
Authorities have instructed residents living along the banks of the Hub River to evacuate immediately with their livestock to safer locations.
Owners of sand, gravel extraction sites, and crushing plants near the river have also been directed to relocate their equipment.
The statement recalled that two days earlier, during a Balochistan Assembly session, the government had urged all departments to stay in close contact with the irrigation authorities to prepare for possible flooding.
The Assembly also stressed the need for ongoing coordination with Sindh to ensure that no breaches occur in any dams along the Sindh–Balochistan border.
