New girls’ hostel inaugurated at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail said on Wednesday that Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University , the province’s only institution dedicated to women’s higher education, has made remarkable progress in just one year by overcoming long-standing obstacles and addressing key challenges.

He said a strong academic environment is now emerging, and for the first time after years of crisis, student enrollment has recorded a commendable increase.

The governor inaugurated a newly built girls’ hostel for 200 students on the university premises, calling it another milestone. He expressed confidence that with continued efforts and the dedication of faculty, the university would soon rank among Pakistan’s top institutions.

Mandokhail made the remarks during his visit to the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, where Principal Secretary to the Governor Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and the Pro Vice Chancellor were also present.

The governor said the administration was also improving security arrangements to ensure that both students and their parents felt reassured. “Thanks to our support and the performance of the vice chancellor’s team, the campus environment has improved so much that we can now send our own daughters to study here,” he remarked.

Mandokhail emphasized the need to safeguard achievements and push for further progress. He pledged to provide laboratory equipment and chemicals for all science labs to strengthen academic research. He also recalled that the administration had resolved salary issues for the staff and assured that other pressing needs would be addressed through concrete measures.

He urged philanthropists in the province to contribute to the university’s development and support deserving students. He also instructed the vice chancellor to cut unnecessary expenses and praised the launch of the self-finance scheme at the institution.
