14 persons arrested attempting to cross into Iran

Quetta: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Gwadar Circle has arrested 14 individuals involved in illegal border crossings to and from Iran.

According to the FIA spokesperson, the Composite Circle in Gwadar carried out successful operations, detaining the suspects, including one Iranian national.

Among those arrested, three belong to Gujranwala, three to Mandi Bahauddin, four to Sanghar, and three to Sheikhupura.

Preliminary investigations revealed that nine of the suspects were attempting to travel illegally to Iran by sea, with the intention of moving onward to other countries.

They were apprehended from Jiwani.

Additionally, five more individuals, including an Iranian citizen, were caught trying to enter Pakistan unlawfully through the PB-250 Gabd land route.

FIA has registered cases against all the suspects, who are now in custody for further investigation.

It is worth mentioning that it was just two days ago when some 24 people were arrested while attempting to cross into Iran.

The operation was carried out on Sunday when people were trying to cross into Iran via Jiwani waters.

It is worth mentioning that both Pakistan and Iran have affirmed their resolve to counter any such attempt which could lead to human-trafficking or militancy through border on either side.
