QESCO decides to intensify crackdown on power theft across Balochistan

QUETTA: The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has announced to intensify its operations against power theft across the province.

The QESCO Chairman chaired the 231st meeting of the Board of Directors, which was held at QESCO headquarters. During the meeting, the board members, the Chief Executive Officer, and other senior officials were present.

The meeting decided to intensify the crackdown against power pilferers across Balochistan.

During the meeting, the Chairman directed the officials to accelerate efforts against electricity theft and to launch targeted recovery campaigns from defaulters. He emphasized that legal action should be taken without discrimination against those involved in illegal electricity usage within their respective circles.

He also directed the officers to launch special campaigns to curb power pilfers and ensure that consumers refrain from using electricity illegally. The Chairman also ordered that all agricultural consumers who have shifted to solar energy must have their electricity connections permanently disconnected. In addition, associated equipment such as transformers, HT poles, and other electrical infrastructure should be removed and deposited in QESCO stores.

The meeting also approved the annual procurement plan, including the purchase of equipment for transmission lines and grid stations. It was noted that the introduction of the e-procurement system has led to significant financial benefits, saving QESCO approximately Rs. 80 million. Moreover, the sale of scrap material has generated an additional Rs. 83 million in revenue.
