Security forces foil terrorist attack in Tirah, suicide bomber killed

TIRAH: Security forces successfully foiled a major terrorist attack in Tirah Valley, neutralizing a vehicle-borne suicide bomber before it could reach its intended target. The attacker attempted to ram an explosives-laden vehicle into the Brigade Headquarters in Tirah.

The suicide bomber was killed instantly in the operation. Authorities confirmed that no loss of life or injury occurred among security personnel. The terrorist group Ittihadul Mujahideen Pakistan later claimed responsibility for the failed attack, identifying the bomber as Qari Umer Afridi.

Furthermore, Tirah, located in Khyber district near the Pak-Afghan border, has witnessed sporadic militant activity in recent years due to its rugged terrain and strategic location. However, sustained counterterrorism operations have significantly reduced the ability of extremist networks to carry out large-scale attacks.
