QUETTA: The Balochistan Information Commission has started its operations, aiming to safeguard the public’s constitutional right to access information.
According to details, Secretary Information Imran Khan, Commissioner Abdul Shakoor, and Director Saeed Shahwani has officially inaugurated the office of the Commission at the Directorate of Public Relations building.
On the occasion, Provincial Secretary Information Imran Khan termed the establishment of the Commission as a “milestone” for the people of the province, adding that access to information is a fundamental right, which will not only strengthen transparency but also promote accountability and good governance.
Similarly, Commissioner Abdul Shakoor highlighted that the creation of the Commission marks a crucial step toward empowering citizens in exercising their right to information. He said the provincial government is committed to improving governance, eliminating corruption, and encouraging public participation.

It is worth mentioning that the Right to Information Act was passed by the Balochistan Assembly in 2021. The establishment of the Commission ensures the effective implementation of this law, enabling citizens to demand and receive information from public institutions.
