FIA arrests two human traffickers in Gwadar
GWADAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two human traffickers in Gwadar for attempting to send citizens to Iran through illegal sea routes.
The FIA said its Composite Circle Gwadar carried out “major operations” in different areas of the district. The suspects were identified and arrested after victims came forward.
According to the agency, the traffickers charged Rs10,000 each from citizens. They were planning to send them to Iran by sea. An investigation is now underway.
Human smuggling from Pakistan to Iran remains a persistent issue. Many migrants attempt risky land and sea crossings, seeking jobs or onward travel to the Middle East and Europe.
A report by the National Initiative against Organised Crime notes that Gwadar and other parts of Balochistan serve as key transit points. Traffickers exploit vulnerable people by charging heavy sums for dangerous journeys.
Just last week, FIA Balochistan arrested five more traffickers in Taftan and Loralai. They were accused of sending people to Iran and Turkiye through fake documents and illegal routes.
According to the FIA, three of those suspects were “most wanted” by Pakistani embassies in Iran and Turkiye. Officials said the group had already sent large numbers of people abroad illegally.
