QUETTA: Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has successfully completed Phase-IV of the province-wide project to shift all agricultural tube well connections to solar energy.
As part of this phase, QESCO disconnected 12,250 agricultural connections from its network, following the allocation of PKR 24.5 billion by the government.
In addition, 698 high-tension (HT) poles, 2,370 agricultural transformers, and other associated electrical equipment were removed from their sites.
The solarization initiative began earlier in December 2024. During Phase-I, QESCO disconnected 2,699 registered and 513 illegal agricultural connections after the government disbursed PKR 5.4 billion, completing the task between December 20, 2024, and January 17, 2025.
Under Phase-II, 3,729 registered agricultural users and 933 illegal tube well connections (a total of 4,662 connections) were disconnected following the release of PKR 7.4 billion for solarization.
Similarly, in Phase-III, QESCO teams cut off 7,000 agricultural connections after receiving PKR 14 billion from the government.
With the final Phase-IV now complete, QESCO has so far disconnected a total of 25,678 agricultural connections across the province.
Alongside, 8,905 agricultural transformers, 4,716 HT poles, and various other electrical devices have been dismantled to prevent reconnection to the QESCO network.
QESCO has appealed to all agricultural users who have received government funds for solar transition but have not yet surrendered their transformers, HT poles, or other electrical equipment, to immediately cooperate with QESCO teams.
