HANGU: Militants linked to the outlawed Khawarij group attacked a Frontier Corps (FC) fort in Hangu, martyring three paramilitary policemen, officials said on Sunday.

District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed that the attackers targeted the FC fort, leading to the deaths of three personnel from the Federal Reserve Police.

Security forces launched a strong counter-offensive. The DPO said five militants, including a local facilitator, were killed in the exchange. He added that the facilitator was actively assisting the attackers. A joint operation by police and FC is underway in the Tori Warai area.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the slain policemen. He said the officers laid down their lives to repel an attack by “India-sponsored terrorists.” He hailed their bravery and vowed their sacrifice would not be in vain. The minister also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
