QUETTA: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan Zone has arrested a suspect allegedly involved in illegal currency trade and hawala/hundi transactions in a raid conducted in Quetta. The arrested suspect identified as Shabbir Ahmed.
During the raid, FIA team also recovered 5,100 US dollars, 20,100 Afghan afghanis, over 3.41 crore Iranian rials, and more than 1.5 million Pakistani rupees from the possession of the arrested suspect. Authorities also seized evidence related to unauthorized currency exchange activities.
FIA spokesperson told local media that the suspect failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the origin and purpose of the foreign and local currencies recovered.
He further said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal hawala/hundi operations and unauthorized currency exchanges, on the directives of FIA Director General Rafat Mukhtar Raja, aiming to end the illegal currency exchange from the province.

The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to uncover the broader network involved in illegal financial activities.
