Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) carried out a major crackdown against substandard and harmful food products in the provincial capital. Teams conducted large-scale operations on Sarki Road and Airport Road.
On Airport Road, an illegal vinegar manufacturing unit was sealed, while on Sarki Road, an unauthorized water plant was shut down.
The vinegar unit was found producing and distributing unregistered vinegar under unsafe conditions. The facility’s overall hygiene and the personal cleanliness of its workers were reported to be extremely poor.
At the illegal water plant, misleading information was printed on labels, while various unregistered brand stickers and counterfeit labels were also recovered.
Inspectors found fungus and dirt inside water tanks, with no proper system for waste management or drainage.
The bottles were being filled openly without hygiene protocols, and the operators failed to provide laboratory reports or other legal documents.
Director General of BFA, Waqar Khurshid Alam, stated that the authority would not compromise on public health and assured strict legal action against those involved in producing substandard and illegal food items.
