Afghanistan assures Pakistan its soil will not be used by TTP or BLA

Kabul: Afghanistan has assured Pakistan that its territory will not be allowed to be used against it by militant groups, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

The assurance was given by Afghanistan’s interim Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, the meeting took place in Kabul on the sidelines of the sixth trilateral dialogue among the foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

The two sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, trade, security, and counterterrorism efforts.

Both foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over recent positive developments in relations and welcomed the decision to elevate diplomatic representation from chargé d’affaires to the level of ambassadors, a decision finalized at the May 21, 2025, trilateral summit in Beijing.

Referring to earlier meetings, particularly the visits to Kabul in April and July 2025 as well as the Beijing conference, both sides expressed satisfaction that most of the agreed decisions had either been implemented or were close to completion, especially those that strengthened trade and transit ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar appreciated the progress but emphasized the need for more concrete steps in counterterrorism.

He cited recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and urged effective action against groups operating from Afghan soil, such as TTP and the BLA’s Majeed Brigade.

In response, the Afghan foreign minister assured that Afghanistan would not permit any terrorist organization to use its territory against Pakistan or any other country.
