KP govt appoints focal persons for flood-hit areas

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has intensified its monitoring and relief efforts in flood-affected mountainous regions. The Information Department has nominated Deputy Director Nizamuddin as the focal person for Buner and other flood-hit areas. 

In this sense, his mandate includes providing accurate information and facilitating real-time monitoring of the evolving situation.

In this regard, the Relief Department has appointed its Deputy Director, Amjad Khan, to serve as focal person for departmental coordination. Meanwhile, the provincial government has directed an assessment of hospitals and health facilities that sustained damage during the recent floods and heavy rains.

Furthermore, the monitoring teams will use motorcycles to reach remote and hard-to-access regions where damage has been most severe. Director General Health, Dr. Shahid Younas, confirmed that all affected districts have been instructed to submit detailed reports without delay.

So far, the preliminary findings indicate that at least 11 health facilities have suffered partial damage, including two in Shangla, three in Bajaur, one in Swat, and one in Dir.

Dr. Younas further noted that the department is evaluating the condition of medical equipment in these facilities.
