KP CM vows comprehensive relief, rehabilitation for flood victims

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reasserted the provincial government’s intention to serve full support to people affected by recent cloudbursts and floods that struck several districts of the province, leaving behind widespread devastation.

The chief minister mentioned that the federal government as well as provincial chief ministers had assured their complete cooperation in dealing with the crisis. He said the natural calamity has inflicted heavy losses, but the government will utilize all available resources to reduce the hardships of the affected population.

The chief minister noted that while prior rain and flood warnings had been issued, the sudden cloudbursts in Bajaur and Buner could not be anticipated, resulting in flash floods, loss of precious lives, and large-scale destruction.

He expressed grief over the tragic helicopter crash in Bajaur, which claimed the lives of officials delivering aid to flood victims. Furthermore, separately, the chief minister chaired an emergency meeting to review the situation caused by heavy rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods across KP.
