PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Accountability Court sent Senior Auditor Radiullah of the Accountant General’s Office to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in connection with the Kohistan mega corruption scandal.
The accused was produced before Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Zafar Khan amid tight security arrangements.
In this sense, during the hearing, the court was apprised that Radiullah, who had been serving as a Senior Auditor in the Accountant General’s Office, was allegedly found in possession of a substantial amount of assets that could not be justified by his known sources of income.
The investigating officer further informed the court that the interrogation of the accused had been completed, and no additional physical remand was deemed necessary at this stage.
In this regard, the officials maintained that the arrest and investigation were carried out as part of ongoing efforts to address financial irregularities in the Kohistan region, where reports of large-scale misappropriation of public funds have surfaced over the past several months.
So far, the legal experts noted that the transfer of the accused to judicial custody represents a critical stage in the proceedings, as it will allow the accountability watchdogs to finalize their evidence and prepare for the trial.

The Kohistan corruption scandal has been under investigation for some time, with authorities pledging to ensure that all those found guilty of financial misconduct will face the law.
