QUETTA: In a significant move against terrorism, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has permanently shut down the official Telegram account of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a key group within the Fitna al-Hindustan network.
Officials confirmed that the action aims to choke the group’s propaganda channels and disrupt its recruitment and communication efforts. The development comes as part of a wider crackdown on terrorist outfits across the country.
The government targeted accounts of proscribed outfits on major global platforms and blocked 533 accounts linked to terrorists groups of the Indian proxies- Fitna al Hindustan and Fitna al Khawarij, operating in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, respectively.
Officials said this step is vital to stop online terrorism. They also urged the international community to act against extremist propaganda worldwide.
The National Cyber Crime Investigative Agency and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) identified over 850 accounts tied to groups such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), and Baloch Liberation Front (BLF). The United Nations, the United States, and the United Kingdom have already declared these groups as terrorist organizations.
Security sources said the noose is tightening around these militants, leaving them with “no place to hide.” The government has vowed to continue targeting the group’s digital networks alongside on-ground operations until all safe havens are eliminated.
The move has been welcomed by citizens in Balochistan, who see it as a step toward peace and stability in the province.
