Barbados: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has penalized two Pakistani cricketers following the first Test match against the West Indies due to inappropriate on-field behavior.
Fast bowlers Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shahzad were fined and each handed one demerit point by the ICC for breaching the code of conduct during their wicket celebrations.
Khurram Shahzad made an inappropriate gesture after dismissing Shai Hope, while Mohammad Abbas did the same following the dismissal of Jomel Warrican.
It is noteworthy that the West Indies defeated Pakistan by a significant margin of 90 runs in the first Test.
Chasing a target of 211 runs, the Pakistani batting lineup collapsed for just 120 runs in their second innings, with eight batsmen failing to reach double digits. Captain Babar Azam was the top scorer with 58 runs.
