Women entrepreneurs to lead change in Balochistan: Minister Wajeeha Qamar

QUETTA: Minister of State for Education and Vocational Training, Wajeeha Qamar, said that the youth of Balochistan and Pakistan can fulfill the dream of national development. She emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and all stakeholders are serious about resolving Balochistan’s issues, and the Danish Schools project stands as clear evidence of that commitment.

She expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled “Enabling a Sustainable Environment for Women Entrepreneurs.”

Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah; Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai; Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola; Secretary of the Women Development Department, Saira Atta; CEO of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Nadir Gul Barech; and CEO of BRSP, Dr. Tahir Rasheed, also attended the event.

Minister Wajeeha Qamar said that many problems require little effort to solve. She added that the young girls and women involved in business are dreaming of a prosperous Pakistan, and the government will help turn those dreams into reality. These girls will prove that real change in Balochistan begins with them. She stated that people from all walks of life are ready to fully support women’s access to education and opportunities.

She stressed that while policymakers develop plans, everyone must work together to implement them. She noted that the school food program has already launched in Balochistan, which is a positive step forward.

She highlighted a special project that provides opportunities for Balochistan’s youth to participate in international scholarships and programs, enabling them to represent Pakistan on the global stage.

She stated that 17,000 madaris (religious seminaries) have been registered across Pakistan, including 590 in Balochistan. The government is working to provide religious students with both religious and contemporary education.

She concluded by saying that the federal government is paying special attention to Balochistan and will take effective measures to address the region’s challenges. These efforts aim to integrate the province’s youth into the national mainstream and engage them in the country’s development journey.
