Balochistan Food Minister vows action on contaminated water

QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Food, Noor Muhammad Dummar, announced that a decisive crackdown is under process against the cultivation of vegetables using contaminated water in and around Quetta.

In this sense, Minister Dummar, harmful crops grown on 1,215 acres of land have been destroyed over the past month as part of the operation.

In such a scenario, in the context of agricultural sector, action has also been taken against restaurants and hotels found selling substandard or unsafe food items. The minister assured that surprise inspections are being carried out regularly across Quetta to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

In this regard, in order to increase public engagement and streamline complaint redressal, the Balochistan Food Authority has established complaint boxes at 25 key locations throughout the city.  Minister Dummar urged residents of Quetta to take a vigilant role in safeguarding public health by reporting any violations they witness.

He also mentioned that a monitoring cell has been established within the Food Department to track the progress of inspections, complaints, and follow-up actions.
