Sons kill mother for “honour” in Naseerabad

BALOCHISTAN: Another incident of a so-called “honour” killing occurred in Balochistan, where two sons, with the help of their father, strangled their own mother to death.

According to police reports, the horrific murder took place within the jurisdiction of Shaheed Nazir Ahmed Umrani Police Station in the Mangoli area of Naseerabad. The accused — identified as Khadim and Bakht Ali Jatt — allegedly conspired with their father to commit the brutal act.

Police launched a swift operation under the supervision of SDPO Muhammad Tayyab Iqbal and SHO Muhammad Umar Awan, successfully arresting both sons. During the initial investigation, the suspects confessed to killing their mother by strangulation in the name of “honour.”

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Law enforcement is actively pursuing the arrest of the father, who is also accused in the case and is currently on the run. Raids are being conducted to capture other possible accomplices.

This tragic incident once again highlights the continuing plague of honour-based violence in Pakistan, where outdated notions of shame and honour continue to claim lives—most often of women—under the guise of cultural tradition.
