TDAP approves new trade infrastructure in Quetta

ISLAMABAD: The 12th Board Meeting of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) took place in Islamabad in the chair with Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

Senior government officials and TDAP Board members attended the meeting, according to a press release issued on Monday.

The Board reviewed and approved several strategic initiatives aimed at boosting Pakistan’s export competitiveness and trade facilitation.

Key approvals included:

  • The Annual Business Plan for FY 2025–26
  • Participation in over 120 international exhibitions
  • “Made in Pakistan” exhibitions in Ethiopia and Bangladesh
  • National exhibitions and export promotion seminars
  • National Export Training Programmes across Pakistan

The Board also approved new display centers, conference rooms, and IT accelerators at TDAP’s regional offices in Quetta and Sialkot. The Sialkot office will include dedicated facilities for sports goods and surgical instruments.

The Board endorsed measures to increase women entrepreneurs’ participation in international trade exhibitions.

The Commerce Minister emphasized the need to shift focus toward emerging international markets. He said Pakistan must reduce reliance on traditional trade partners and diversify its export destinations.

He also proposed hiring dedicated researchers at TDAP. These researchers will conduct sector-specific studies and provide data-driven insights to improve planning and policy decisions.

The Minister appreciated TDAP’s ongoing restructuring efforts. He said the goal is to turn the authority into a dynamic, export-oriented institution.

The meeting concluded with approvals for stronger promotional support for trade missions abroad and key recommendations from TDAP’s Sub-Committees.
